Overview
This “Lodge” is not a commercially viable lodge. It is too small and too remote. On the other hand, for a unique small group (or individual) of fishermen, it is a tremendous opportunity. The lake is 10 miles long, all of which is very fishable. It holds substantial numbers of lake trout and good numbers of northern pike. Importantly, because of the very low fishing pressure, there are excellent numbers of “Master Angler” fish. There is an abundance of forage fish (ciscoes); no walleyes, however.
The South Knife River flows out of the lake and it is documented that the river has exceptional brook trout fishing. I can prove that with a home made video from years ago. The river contains vast quantities of grayling, about 50% of which are “masters”.
No other structures on the lake, except a trapper’s cabin at the far north end. This cabin was once occupied by a trapper lady (Native) from Churchill and now another trapper from Churchill has taken over the trap line. This individual is very helpful in watching over things during the winter.
There are no tribes near the lake and our operation has remained secure for 25 years. We have an occasional bear that we shoo away.
The lake is a dream for fishing (and landing a floatplane) in that there are no submerged rocks or other problems. Depths are 4 to 100 feet, depending. The lake has 4 islands, one of which is very large in the center of the lake.
We troll medium sized spoons in the spring and fall. Action is non-stop.

Buildings & Site Improvements
The main lodge structure and one of two cabin buildings are constructed with machined cedar logs (brought in years ago from Churchill). They make for a gorgeous interior. There is a smallish secondary cabin recently constructed that is of exceptional quality. The entire operation sleeps 7-8 individuals very comfortably. Beds are good. Everything is wood heated. We have an electrical generator with excellent lighting. High quality electrical workmanship. We have a propane water heater, electric refrigerator, quality stove and oven, and very handy indoor grill. Hot shower whenever. Our efforts to use solar energy have been partly successful.
Chattels Included in the Sale
The Lodge operates with 3 – 16 ft Alumarine boats, 1 new Yamaha 20 hp 4 stroke, , 2 new Yamaha 15 hp 4 stroke, 1 Mercury 15 hp 2 stroke as backup. We have 2 canoes and 2 old 14 ft boats.
Land & Location
Accessibility is by float plane from Thompson. Wings over Kississing flies out of Thompson regularly because they service all of the lodges around Thompson. We have an excellent relationship with them, as we have with other merchants in Thompson.
We have no outstanding debts.
We have moose tag availability, although we are not moose hunters. That applies to bears as well.
A small group can have the fishing experiences of their lives. They will have total privacy; complete comfort and fishing experiences unmatched anywhere. I have been personally at nearly every fancy lodge in Manitoba / Saskatchewan. SKL has no equal.
